Oh the Irony!

Did you see Robert Sapolsky's lecture The Uniqueness of Humans?

The section starting at 34 minutes explains a lot.

I get the irony, but the Nazi comparison is a little strong and the pic is in bad taste.

Hi Thomas, Welcome!

That is a screen shot of a post on Dr. Eades blog: http://www.proteinpower.com/drmike/lipid-hypothesis/the-big-lie/

Ok-I guess I didn't quite get your irony-I assumed you were referring to Gary Taubes since you have called him out as being purposefully deceptive (I hadn't see Eades site until now).

Fair enough-although I think using Nazi pics, especially that psycho (Goebbles) is so strong-Eades use of it is in very poor taste-he shouldn't use it either as these diet and biochemisty discussions/arguments (such as we are being lied to about the dangers of fats) don't compare with Naziism at all and their lies (and genocide).

Anyway, I do like your site a lot.

@ Thomas: it is not poor taste, it is a law of nature. ;)

@christian-Godwin's law-that's funny! Probably true (in this case it is).

Haven't you folks heard, Godwin's law doesn't apply; it's a dysfunction of comment metabolism and a dys-regulation of blog tissues.

Pfft. The blog tissues are full because more posts are written than deleted. the laws of blogodynamics still appy! comment metabolism has nothing to do with this.

@Thomas: No probs. I just see the low carb movement going down much the same path as the low fat movement did. Replacing a lipophobic dogma with a carbophobic one. I've basically been told to sit down and shut up with any criticism of Taubes because it doesn't help the movement. It's ironic that Eades post could be applied in this regard. :-)

Carbsane-You certainly shouldn't sit down and shut up-I like what you are doing here. The LC movement seems to me to be coming back to more middle ground lately (maybe my bias) and your site and others (like that of Paul Jaminet) have helped. Metabolism and disease is a very complicated issue and there are no linear and easy answers I'm afraid. I do enjoy reading the different points of view-in fact I am really interested in reading your exchanges with Dr. Harris in a more recent post (I respect Dr. Harris very much-largely because he is highly skeptical and seems to be willing to change his views and really has yet to have any financial interest in his views (which decreases credibility IMO)-you seem to be the same). I hope everything remains cordial. Keep up the good work.

I commented on that blog post. Invoking Nazi's is one of the tackiest moves in the world. What hyperbolic ridiculous nonsense. Just a way to get people to agree with him...because if we disagree I guess we're all little Hitlers. Ugh. I'm sick of that tactic. So juvenile.
