Keto Klarity Karma ~ All Aboard the Jimmy Moore Livin La Vida Low Carb Drama Express!!

Image
You are forewarned:   This post contains no science.  It's a bit of gossip and speculation, and simply exposing and documenting some goings on in the LLVLC and related worlds this past year and in recent times. There's no TL,DR.  But c'mon, I KNOW some of you are here at the Asylum for this stuff.  👿😈😈😇😇 While it is possibly a royal waste of my time, I do think it is important to keep shining a light on the source of so much information on the internet.  Whether it's from Jimmy Moore directly, or through the filters of his podcasts, or the reality that he's an internationally best selling author of health and nutrition books, his level of disinformation cannot go unchecked.  Lastly, much of this was written train of thought when it was going down.  I did my best to change tenses and edit out repetition in an effort to actually publish.  I make no promises. 😀

Bio-HACK-ing Chronicles Ep.1: What's with Jimmy Moore's HCT & Hb?

Image
I've decided to chronicle some of the biohacking madness going on out there here on the blog.   I'm not sure if this helps anyone, but at least it will preserve some of it for posterity.   So this will randomly include publicly shared results of various "hacks" -- dietary or otherwise. First up -- who else? LOL -- Jimmy Moore.  Fresh off his second 7-day fast in three weeks, Jimmy continues focusing on all the wrong things instead of actual improvements in things known to improve health.  Apparently low carb is/wasn't enough for Jimmy Moore, so he adopted an extreme version of a keto diet.  This worked swimmingly for a year until he stopped reporting his weight at the end of the year.  He rapidly regained the 80 re-lost pounds and embarked on his first extended fast in the fall of 2015.  That went so well he tried (unsuccessfully) to forego food for the entirety of January 2016, only to balloon up even further.  Forget the scale, ...

The original opening to this post can be read by scrolling to the end or using your browser search function to find ##### . The intent of a single post is that for as long as this content is relevant, I will add new information to this post and "bump" it to the top of the feed.  If it grows to be unmanageable, I'll have sections with search strings for easy navigation.  For now, each update will get popped to the top of the feed reader.  New "entries" will be at the top, and will be separated from prior content with "▼▼ Content added XX/XX/XX ▼▼".    Different topics within each update will be separated by ***** and a horizontal line ... like this: ***** ▼▼ Content added 9/19/13 ▼▼  Interpreting Cholesterol Panels?

Jimmy Moore's 10 Year Scam-aversary ~ Remembering Kimkins!

Image
Jimmy Moore has been complaining a lot about criticism lately.  This is nothing new.   livinlowcarbman This comment I received today is a great teachable moment to share with you a bit more of my philosophy on how to share feedback with someone online. Thank you  @creativename79  for sharing this! * Here was my response to Kris: * I love and appreciate genuine constructive feedback and always have. It's why I've attained the level of success that I have and I'm grateful for the opportunity to be even better than I am now. * * But what you're not privy to is an intense ramping up lately of personal attacks and outright nastiness behind the scenes unlike anything I've seen in my 12+ years of doing this. I don't think it's by accident as my profile has risen in the past few years that the scrutiny of my work would be magnified even more. * * And here's the thing--allowing such stuff to linger unchallenged creates a mob ...

Jimmy Moore Lies Again

Image
(so what else is new) In what I can only assume is an attempt at humor because it is so laughable, Jimmy Moore wrote a "Grokie Do" list for the paleo community the other day.  I'm considering discussing some points further, but his very first bullet point was regarding Paleo Christians: This to me is one of the great unspoken taboo topics that’s been simmering beneath the surface for the past several years in the Paleo community that nobody really seems to want to address. I attempted to do just that in this November 2010 blog post , but the not-so-subtle digs at people who believe in God and also support and use the Paleo lifestyle has only gotten worse. ... Whether you choose to believe in God or not, that’s a personal decision made by the individual that should be respected. Unfortunately, somehow there’s this misconception out there from some people in the Paleo community who seemingly have such utter contempt for Christians that they think if you believe in ...

Jimmy Moore -- Big Fat Liar -- Steps in it AGAIN! It Was NOT a Joke, He Is!

Image
Hey all!  Long (LONG) time no blog.      This is mostly an update, because the King Kahuna of Keto is still sort of kicking around out there.    Jimmy Moore can't help himself!! Nah ... not one iota of evidence!  LOLOL On the gossip front, it appears the split with his wife is imminent and he lost the Low Carb Cruise and most of the friends in the split.  Christine has lost 400 lbs in the past year -- well, 50 of her own since no longer eating like Jimmy ... and Jimmy.   After taking six or four months off, King Krankypants of Ketonia tried to rebrand as "The Man of Real" discussing his childhood.   That went over like a lead balloon and apparently what remaining sponsors he had went the way of handshakes and hugs in 2020.   This has left Jimmy in three-to-four tee shirts, surviving on eggs from his chickens (and the occasional ribeye from a friend), ranting away on IG and solidifying his place in nutritional history ...

Jimmy Moore ~ Low Carb Asset or Liability?

Image
Another timely bump.  Note that this is almost one year after original publication.  In response mostly to this post, Jimmy wrote:   Who Knew Eating Butter Would Be So Controversial?    Seriously?  There's a difference between eating a pat of butter here and there, and putting a half pound on a plate with some eggs and calling that a meal.   A few weeks ago, I attended the annual Paleof(x) conference in Austin, Texas and it was such a fantastic experience for everyone in the Paleo, primal, low-carb, real food community. Getting to meet so many people who shared their stories about how the work I am doing is changing their lives is incredibly gratifying and makes me appreciate the unique opportunities that this platform affords me. And while it was a positive experience attending this amazing event, the fact is it was also pretty stressful. It’s happy stress, but stress nonetheless. Plus, as you’ve know I’ve been hunkered down banging out my book ...

The 2011 InSanies

Image
The first ever awards to be handed out here at the Asylum.  We'll honor here the most insane goings on in the low carb world in 2011.  These honors are bestowed with lighthearted humor, even if some were earned for actions of a more serious nature.  So, without further delay, in no particular order, I present The 2011 InSanies

JimKKKins: The Saga of Jimmy Moore and David Duke

Image
Random Replay: I had just recently updated this post to put the summary and links but didn't think it was necessary to bump.  As far as I was concerned, this whole sad saga was in the past, and the members of the paleo and low carb communities spoke with their actions, for better or worse.  Newbies will find it pinned on the sidebar as the most popular post here ... not exactly sure what that means in the end.  I still can't for the life of me figure out why people continue to promote this guy, but to each their own.    Just they can't say they didn't know ... and Jimmy can't claim to be wrongfully accused ... and I still think the Paleo community could learn a thing or two from the Paula Deen story ...  But then this past week,  Jimmy Moore is at it again bringing up this issue.  Why I have no idea, because one would think he would rather this faded away into the archives.  But in a really strange turn of events, Joe Salama of The...

Just Eat Less - Move Moore, Jimmy

Image
Another timely bump to go with the Three-Year "Update" for Jimmy Moore.  Seems he is receiving the expected backlash from the recent Paleof(x) CONference, and his pre-game post failed to stave off the gasps and criticisms.  Andreas "look at all the fat people on this cruise" Eenfeldt has just posted a short recap video from the event.  The comments on his blog are interesting to say the least.  Seems to have a strange thing going with Jimmy, kind of like Tom Naughton.  They both post unflattering images, etc. of their "friend".  The absolute worst light to show Jimmy in is a profile, and yet this is what his "friend" Andreas chose to use a lot of.  Eh ... their dysfunction. [P.S.  After this post, a troll by the name of EatLessMoveMoore started commenting on various blogs using some of my terminologies like "webpire" and such.  This was NEVER me despite repeated accusations.  Even Nikoley had the decency to publicly note that i...

... locally farm-grown and raised coconut oil!  This was too long to tweet, but Jimmy Moore is at it again stirring up contention in the Paleo community.   We’d certainly be a lot better off in our weight and health as a society with less need for pharmaceutical medications and chronic disease management if everybody just started consuming foods they recognize as being grown, raised and harvested by local farmers in their communities. Of course, it wouldn’t happen overnight as sustainable farmer Nick Wallace shared in my recent podcast interview with him. But getting a good percentage of people to choose real foods like grass-fed beef, pastured eggs, coconut oil, green leafy vegetables and more would certainly be a great step in the right direction of where we need to go nutritionally-speaking in the years to come to prevent a total healthcare meltdown from happening. I see this as a common mode of thinking that permeates through both the low-carb and Paleo communitie...

An Open Letter to Sean Croxton (and Jimmy Moore, and anyone else buying his stories)

Image
image link Jimmy & Sean in April 2013 Last week, Jimmy Moore paid a visit to the Underground Wellness radio show/podcast hosted by Sean Croxton . Jimmy Moore has a new book out, set to be released today.   Keto Clarity it is called, and in addition to the various therapeutic uses, sure to be over-hyped, this book will include the story of Jimmy's personal triumph over regaining roughly half of his LC weight loss despite remaining true to livin la vida low carb.

Drugs vs. Supplements II and a JimKKKins Moore Update!

Image
Jimmy Moore was a relatively healthy, 230 lb man circa 2005-2006.  Despite his repeated lies to the contrary, he didn't just see his weight creep up a pound or two per month for 15 lb increases per year in the intervening years.  Still, whatever his path, he ended up back over 300 lbs in 2012 and went on his extreme nutritional ketosis fat fast diet.  He is now teetering at the brink of his former 230 lb goal.   Someone ought to remind him that he was a mere 3 pounds more than he weighs now in 2009, but he's clearly entered the pathological state where he believes his own lies.  He's currently on hiatus from podcasting to co-write a book with Dr. Eric Westman (who I can only think has taken leave of his senses) on cholesterol.  This would appear to be an effort on Jimmy's part to convince himself and others that his levels are peachy keen and perhaps even healthful.

Nutty Ketosis: Questions for Volek & Phinney ... and company

Jimmy Moore is clearly following the instructions of Volek & Phinney's latest book on The Art and Science of Low Carb Performance .  This follows on TA&SoLC Living.  Peter Attia followed their recommendations as well when he went nutty ketotic.  His is an even more bizarre experiment than Jimmy's, because as I understand from his JumpStartMD talks (search on YouTube) he had lost whatever little bit of extra weight already without dropping carbs severely.  The guy also works out (or did at the time) almost 3 hours a day and bragged that he increased his calories to 4500 and even more per day.  He bragged at one point in that talk about consuming upwards of 400g fat per day!!  How anyone doesn't think that is the very definition of dietary insanity is beyond me.  Still, Attia is fit and extremely active, and by all indications has not seen detrimental lipid profiles resulting from his adopted lifestyle.

If only they'd listened ...

Yes ... this is a screenshot  Jimmy Moore uploaded to his  image host and  tried to pass off  as a comment directed at  him on one of his venues.    Click on image to enlarge In March of 2011, Dr. Kurt G. Harris wrote this in the comments to the following  blog post on this blog:    Response to Moore/Kosloff Podcast II: Commentary.    You see, a year or so ago, Jimmy Moore was in full swing stirring the pot in paleo to deflect as much as he could from his unwarranted MARKETING and MONEYMAKING move into the paleosphere. He "went paleo" following AHS11 and started attaching that label to everything paleo. When some in the community protested, he pointed fingers at me.  News flash, I have never been "paleo", though I do eat a pretty paleo friendly diet, insomuch as I understand the diet to mean,  the large percentage of the time.

More thoughts on the KKKonfederacy of Dunces

The past couple of days, I have been spending my spare time, while I still have a bit more, on some outside/related projects so I apologize for not being as engaged as usual in my comments section. I must say that the commentary on my last post, William "Wheat Belly" Davis agreed to interview with David Duke personally , is both amusing and appalling to me.  Amusing, because the predictable anonymous advisors have swooped in to offer their unsolicited wisdom on how I should best spend my time and/or what content I should put forth here.  Newsflash!  It's my life, my time and my blog.  The door is up there in the right corner, just click on the X and watch your backside as the door tends to slam a bit ;-) I am appalled by those comments critical of me for merely posting this information, and/or expressing my opinion that a NYT best selling author should offer up a full explanation for his actions.  I can guarantee you that if anyone in the mainstream h...
